Week 10 Waiver Wire Targets

Last week, I recommended Laurent Robinson, Antonio Brown, Brent Celek, Jon Baldwin, and to add T.J. Houshmandzadeh to your watchlist.  The only guy on that list that I may not still consider is Jon Baldwin after his one catch performance last week.  Otherwise, if you added Robinson, Brown, or Celek you should have been pretty happy with the result.  Here are the guys I am recommending this week:

  • Andy Dalton (Cin, QB): Last week Dalton threw for 200 yards and 3 touchdowns against the Titans and has scored double digit fantasy points in all but his first and third starts in the NFL.  He is available in almost 77% of leagues on ESPN so if you need a second QB or want some depth, he could be a nice pickup.
  • Roy Helu (Was, RB): Helu was named the starter right before his game on Sunday and he certainly made the most of his promotion.  He rushed for 41 yards, but also caught 14 passes for 105 yards (17 targets!).  Even if you aren’t in a PPR league, he should be on your radar this week.

Gridiron Challenge: Week 9

After beating MattDotRich 135 to 119 last week, I am a victim of the Bye week this week, losing Stafford, Calvin, and AP.  I put together a revamped line up that will hopefully inch me closer to the top spot in our league.  MattDotRich currently leads 1044 to 1000.  Check out who we started.

Gridiron Challenge: Week 8

I played MattDotRich in our fantasy league last week as well as here on The GridIron Challenge.  In both lineups, he started Arian Foster and boy did it pay off.   Needless to say, he beat me in both leagues and is still in first place in our GridIron Challenge with 925 points.  I have revamped my lineup this week in hopes of making up some of the lost ground.  Keep reading to see who we started.

Gridiron Challenge: Week 7

I didn’t get to post last weeks lineup because MattDotRich and I were at our old college roommates wedding.  Last week I started the same lineup as Week 5 and I lost big time to Matt, putting me solidly in 3rd place with 736 points  (MattDotRich in 1st with 757).  I plan on changing that this week with the SOLID lineup that I put together.    Check out who we started.

Gridiron Challenge: Week 5

Last week I lost to MattDotRich 142 to 117 and lost overall points to him 511 to 506.  Man do I wish I picked up Tom Brady at the beginning of the season…

Check out who we started for Week 5

An Open Letter To The Vikings

By MattDotRich

Dear Minnesota Vikings,

I would like to take the time to make a statement on behalf of myself, fantasy owners, Minnesota Vikings fans and also, fans of logic: You have Adrian Peterson on your team.

No, really! You do! Check out, it’s even on your official website! Pretty cool, right? Always nice to have the best running back on your football team, ya know? Gives you all sorts of street cred, ya dig?

Anyways, I mention this to you, because I couldn’t help but notice that you guys seem to continuously forget that. And I get it! It’s pretty hard to not get caught up in all this Tony Gerhart excitement! But I think it might be time to start remembering that you can use Adrian Peterson as many times as you’d like.

Yesterday, for the third time in as many weeks you blew a double digit lead, and I can’t help but think if you’d use the best runningback in the entire league a little more, and a little more consistently things could be better.

I know statistics a real  big pain in the behind, but allow me just a moment with some numbers.

In the first half yesterday you gave the ball to Adrian Peterson 12 times, and he gained over 70 yards and 1 TD. At this point you were winning 20-0. So, yay!

But then in the second half you only gave him the ball 5 times (for only four yards), and you were outscored 26-3. This despite  the fact that your quarterback is so comically terrible in the clutch that whenever he’s put in a pressure situation my twitter nearly explodes. So, boo!

So It got me thinking – maybe if you kept giving the ball to the best runningback in the entire league, you might be able to hold onto those leads a little bit better.

Actually, I don’t own AP in any of my leagues…..

Please disregard the above. Sincerely,

MattDotRich.

Week 2 Fantasy Football Recap

After week 1, we had a lot of questions about certain players and whether or not they could repeat their performances.  Week 2 gave us a hint at some of the answers.  Cam Newton IS the real deal.  Vincent Jackson IS a top 10 fantasy wide out.  Buffalo COULD be legit.  Chris Johnson MAY be a bust.  The Chiefs ARE that bad.

The Most Added Players this week are:

  • Devery Henderson, WR NO
  • Ryan Fitzpatrick, QB Buf
  • Eric Decker, WR Den
  • Ben Tate, RB Hou
  • Aaron Hernandez, TE NE
The surprise players of the Top 25 in points last week are:
