Oakland and Cincinnati are on the verge of completing one of the NFL’s biggest trade-deadline deals in decades, with the Raiders acquiring holdout quarterback Carson Palmerfrom the Bengals in exchange for two first-round picks, according to sources familiar with the deal.
The first first-round pick is in 2012 and the other is a conditional first-round pick in 2013.

And…… hold for laughter…
Yes, the Oakland Raiders just surrendered at least one first round pick for the rights to 32 year old Carson Palmer. Yes, that, Carson Palmer. The one who “retired,” only to see the Bengals improve offensively under an un-highly touted rookie quarterback.
The Carson Palmer who has 154 career touchdowns, and 134 career turnovers despite the infamous pre-injury season where he threw for 32 touchdowns on “just” 16 turnovers. Do the math, it hasn’t been pretty since.
That’s not to say he completely sucks as a fantasy quarterback (but to be fair, he does suck as a real life quarterback), it’s just that he’s a backup at best. We tend to get excited about new people in new places, but let’s remember who Carson Palmer is. Post injury, here’s what he’s done:

That’s slang for ‘not too great, my dudez.’ If you’ve got a spot for him go for him, but don’t go crazy trying to acquire him. More than likely, you have a better QB on your bench.
