With only 11 days left until the draft, it is somewhat clear where players will generally land. I felt like it was an appropriate time to put together a 2012 mock draft. This mock assumes there are no other big signings or trades prior to the draft. So here goes:
I did a quick 12 team mock draft on ESPN today. I used a tier sheet ranked first by position, then by FFPrep Rank. There were some interesting moves made by some of the members of the draft including allowing QBs and TEs to fall pretty far. It allowed for some real value picks in the 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th rounds.
Originally, the idea behind creating tiers was to spend the day mock-drafting, hoping to take a look at the best way to draft, as well as drop a few jokes, and mock other people who are mock drafting. Unfortunately, CBSsportsline and my computer were a little out of touch, out of time today. Still hope to do the column, but I’ll leave you with a few observations I had while creating my tier lists.
Tier 1. When it comes to Brady or Manning, you’re not really going wrong. It’s like choosing between Shark Bites and Gushers. Manning had a better year last season, no doubt. But not by all that much (100 yards, 5 td’s, and had 3 more int’s). So then I take a look on reasons why each could improve upon those numbers. Manning could see a big jump up in Collier and Garcon’s production with another season to learn the playbook/his intricate audible system, I think Brady’s got more room for improvement on the season. Grawnkowski SHOULD give the Patriots their first great pass-catching tight end of the Brady era, and I think it’s something that’s really overlooked. When the Pats were doing their thang, play action to the tight end on the goal line was such a HUGE part of their red-zone offense. I think over the course of his career, New England kept losing confidence in Ben Watson and their ability to put TD’s on the board REALLY suffered. (more…)
If you’re like me, when you are doing your research you are constantly looking at the top 25 guys to figure out who will be available in your first couple picks. We have put together a mock draft to help you figure out the answer to those questions. In our 12 team mock draft we assumed standard scoring and positions (QB, RB1, RB2, WR1, WR2, TE, D/ST, K). Ready, Go (more…)
